Agency Description: UPARC is one of the world’s premiere non-profit organizations providing services to people who have developmental disabilities. Services include residential services, employment training, independent living programs and homes for elderly individuals with developmental disabilities who need medical care, including those who also have Alzheimer’s. These programs enable nearly 900 people and their families to have an opportunity for a better life; one with dignity, self-esteem and a place where their dreams can become a reality.
Qualifications: Previous employment in the developmental disabilities field is preferred. Applicants should have an appropriate college degree with a minimum of 10 years experience, with 5 yrs. experience in upper management. The position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, sound fiscal management experience, and the proven ability to negotiate effectively. Knowledge of the State’s process for funding developmental disabilities is preferred.
Responsibilities: The Executive Director is responsible for all functions of the corporation and reports to the Board of Directors. Responsibilities include advocating for the developmentally disabled before State agencies, the State Legislature and other organizations affecting the developmental disabilities community, reporting at monthly Agency and Foundation Board meetings, and working with the Foundation Director to facilitate fund raising efforts. Public speaking at functions and public events is required.
