Make Your Voice Heard
If you want to speak at your local delegation meeting, you will need to be prepared. Speakers are usually only allowed 3 minutes to speak, so be concise. This is your chance to raise awareness on issues affecting individuals with intellectual and developmentally disabilities. Let your legislators know what is important to you and your family, and tell them what you would like changed or what effect you think a particular bill, if it becomes law, will have on you.
If you don’t want to speak at the meeting, it is still impactful for you to attend. Take the time to get to know your local legislators as you may want to request a meeting with them in the future.
